About Paul Moore – Screen Actor & Acting Coach in Geelong & Melbourne

From Panic to Purpose

I didn’t start acting because I was chasing art — I was chasing attention. I was sixteen when a friend at school landed a TV commercial and suddenly became popular. He wasn’t the best-looking guy, but he was getting all the attention. I thought, “This is my ticket.”

What started as a teenage plan for popularity turned into a lifelong obsession with understanding people — and, eventually, myself. I’ve spent years asking, why do we do what we do? That curiosity pushed me deep into psychology, performance, and human behaviour.

For years, I suffered from panic attacks so intense that I’d sweat until my eyes stung. The first one happened after I stumbled reading aloud at school and the whole class laughed. Every time I felt embarrassed, my body remembered that moment.

Years later, I got an audition for Winners & Losers — to play the husband of my then-wife, Sarah Grace. Before the audition I said to myself, “F#ck it. Bring it on.” Instead of running from panic, I charged straight at it — and it never came. I landed the role of Wes Fitzpatrick, and that moment changed everything.

Now, my entire teaching philosophy is built on that principle: rehearse smarter, act braver. You can’t be free on camera until you’ve faced the thing that terrifies you most.

Doing the Work — Not Waiting for Permission

On Winners & Losers, I learned what a real production machine looks like — 50+ people working in perfect sync. I watched Denise Scott and Francis Greenslade make comedy look effortless, and I studied everything: timing, body language, rhythm, teamwork.

Then came Rostered On. It started as a passion project with Ryan Chamley in a shopping centre, using donated shelving. We built it ourselves. When it hit Netflix, it proved that actors don’t need to wait for permission — they can build something from scratch if they have vision and grit.

That same independent mindset led to Stashamo High, a project we built from the ground up with guerrilla filmmaking. Long days, small budgets, huge heart. I cast young actors who needed real screen experience and gave them a chance to grow. Because I believe persistence beats talent every day — and a plan beats everyone.

The Teacher Within

Teaching came naturally because I was obsessed with understanding the mind. Anxiety forced me to reverse-engineer how I think, feel, and perform. Once I learned how to hack my own triggers, I realised I could help others do the same.

That’s how Moore Acting Instinct was born — an acting school in Geelong focused on on-camera performance, psychology, and truth.

I teach my students that every acting coach has a method, but not all have mastery. You should never take advice from someone who can’t do what they’re teaching. Watch them act first. If it feels authentic — listen. If it doesn’t — move on.

Every actor learns differently, so my classes are dynamic, fast-paced, and full of humour. I use AI rehearsal tools and neuroscience-based techniques to help students learn lines faster and connect deeper.

I’ve even developed a prototype rehearsal tool — Rehearsal AI (MAI) — a live scene partner that actors can use anytime. It helps performers rehearse hundreds of times without judgment, until their performance becomes second nature.

Rehearse Smarter, Act Braver

Authentic performance isn’t about pretending — it’s about understanding what you’re saying. The actor who truly understands the script always wins the role.

Confidence isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something you train. You rewire it. You rebuild it. You create new emotional “lenses” to see the world differently. Once you understand yourself, you can finally honour another character honestly.

Through Moore Acting Instinct and my acting classes in Geelong and Melbourne, I help performers and public speakers master that process — turning nerves into focus and fear into truth.

Lessons From the Underdog

I’ve failed more times than I can count — and I love it. Failure isn’t an end; it’s data. It means I’m experimenting, learning, growing.

I’ve been let down by handshake deals, unpaid contracts, and last-minute re-casts that cost me $10,000 overnight. But every setback sharpened my business sense. Now I teach my students that acting is a business — and understanding every department on set makes you more valuable.

I don’t see myself as part of the “system.” I’m building my own. I want Geelong to become a filmmaking hub that gives local talent the chance to shine on screen — not just dream about it.

The Vision

My mission is simple:

Produce one feature film every year, casting from my students.

Launch NeuroACT, an online acting course giving 24/7 access to neuroscience-based acting techniques.

Keep developing AI tools that merge technology with creativity to help actors prepare faster and perform with more depth.

I want my legacy to be this:

Paul Moore — the actor who overcame his biggest fear and helped others rewire their minds to thrive under pressure.

• Because if I can do it — you can too.

• And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: persistence beats talent every single day.
